SK 5212-II bodypack transmitter wins m.i.p.a. award

The editors of 120 music and audio magazines from around the globe have submitted their votes and presented their product highlights with the 2012 m.i.p.a. Awards at prolight+sound. At the thirteenth awards ceremony for the Musikmesse International Press Awards on 22 March, Sennheiser’s professional bodypack transmitter, the SK 5212-II, took the award in the category “Live Microphone/IEM/Wireless System“. Dr. Heinrich Esser, President Professional Systems, accepted the award on behalf of Sennheiser.

“We are extremely pleased to have won this award,” said Dr. Heinrich Esser, “especially because the SK 5212-II bodypack transmitter is an invisible performer on stage. Major live acts and shows like the Eurovision Song Contest rely on this transmitter, as do musicals, theatres and broadcasters.”

The “Musikmesse International Press Award” is organised by Messe Frankfurt and MM-Musik-Media-Verlag. The thirteenth award ceremony continued the success story for the organisers, with the number of magazines voting having risen in the meantime to 120 from 27 countries.

In the past, Sennheiser had already won m.i.p.a. awards for its MK 4 large-diaphragm condenser microphone (2011) in the Studio Microphone category and its e 965 switchable true condenser microphone as Best Live Microphone (2009) as well as for the MKH 8000 series (2008) and the evolution 900 series (2007) as Best Live Microphones. In 2006, the m.i.p.a. Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Prof. Dr. Fritz Sennheiser; in the same year, the Sennheiser/Neumann SKM 5200/KK 105 S won the Live Microphone category. In 2005, the microphones of the evolution 900 series were voted Best Drum Microphones, while the Sennheiser/Neumann SKM 5000 N/KK 105 S wireless microphone won the Live Microphone category in both 2003 and 2004.
